Jail & Bail

Raising Bail for UD is a rewarding experience for you and your donors:  People are happy to support disability awareness education.  Donations are tax-deductible.

We teach 150 classes each year, covering a range of disabilities and including 27 speaker sessions.  We are a self-funded organization, supported by donations from community members and local businesses.

Understanding Disabilities' signature fundraiser takes place at the Reading Fall Street Faire every September.  Every year the event is very successful as well as a lot of fun.  Not only do we raise funds for our program, everyone had a fun time doing it!

It's easy to participate:   On the day of the Jail & Bail, our Keystone Kops will "Jail" you or some members of your group. All we need is 15 minutes in jail, just long enough to have some fun and to turn in the "Bail" you will have previously collected through your custom email provided to you by UD.  The email will also tell your friends what time you'll be Jailed, so they can come to the Jailhouse to visit you.  If you're in for some extra fun, we can arrange for our Keystone Kops to arrest you while at the faire, a great opportunity for team or group spirit.

2016/17 classes have started!

We look forward to another great year of disability awareness classes. To volunteer to teach a class or assist in the classroom, please contact us.
